Old Saybrook is recognized for its unspoiled scenic beauty, historic significance and vintage charm. The community cherishes deep roots in Colonial times, when it became Connecticut's first military fort and third settlement. Since the first cottages at Light House Point were built in the 1800s, this picturesque waterside haven has welcomed tourists and vacationers with fine beaches and every form of water recreation.

Mists over North Cove still soften visions of anchored sail boats; General William Hart's house still stands and Lynde Lighthouse still beckons, while fine beaches, Monument Park and the Town Green invite relaxation in a beloved vacation retreat.

For students of architecture, Old Saybrook is a treasure trove of impeccable historic structures, with seventeenth-century saltbox Colonials, period Georgians, Federal-era homes and every variety of Victorian residence. Overlooking Long Island Sound, The Borough of Fenwick is a classic example of fine New England shingle style summer residences, the most famous of which is the former Katherine Hepburn home. A new cultural community center to honor Katherine Hepburn is currently under construction in the center of Old Saybrook.

Old Saybrook rests directly off Interstate Route 95 conveniently located equidistant from New York City and Boston.
